My goal is to provide you with the material and to have approximately 15-20% of you using the materials presented during the workshop in upcoming terms. I hope that you many more of you will be able to use these products after you leave the session this afternoon.
I would like to work with the youon how to use various technologies, inclusive of multimedia, in the classroom. However, it is important to express to everyone, the information presented is not intended to replace the education provided in the classroom versus enhancing the product. Additionally, the goal of the information presented is to add cognitive presence for the student, not only to present information.
During the presentation, we will be using Power Point as a guide and it will be for information purposes only. Also, there will be various websites used that will provide example of the information being discussed. In order to reduce information overload, I will break up the information as to not focus on one particular topic for too long.
Five hours is a lot of time to cover information, however, if you feel the information is relevant to the topic, it helps eliminate redundancy. Finally, I there will be several team members assisting with this assignment in order to break the monotony and to use their expert advice on some of the topics.
The mind map we worked on earlier was to help give you an idea of the topics that we are covering and is there for you to refer back to when you have questions or need that burst of cognitive thought.
I have added a pre-training and post-training assessment survey for you to complete. My goal is to engage you in the usage of the products covered throughout the presentation. I will be walking around the room with colleagues during the question and answer portions of the presentation to answer your questions and to view your physical implementation of the data into the system.
At this time, each participant has been provided a laptop to use during interactive portions of the presentation. The computers serve multiple purposes including web set up, Power Point Presentation, and differences between the products. We will be using one LCD projector and a switch to move between the laptops and/or a separate LCD projector.
After reviewing various ideas for this workshop I have determined that we will look at YouTube, Engrade, Facebook, Google, and other sites as needed. Additional research will provide other important sites.
The last goal I have for this afternoon is to break workshop members into groups of five to ten individuals. Each of you will be associated within the program you currently teach to provide a level of comfort. Each team will be given time to add media to existing classroom presentation and to discuss the process before being asked to implement. If Ithere are members that have embedded media into Power Point previously, I will have you work with members who are not comfortable with this process.
